Training and Professional Development

Sometimes structured training and development sessions can help your organization meet its goals.

We design and deliver practical, engaging training that helps educators, staff, and leaders build new skills and apply them with confidence. Our sessions are interactive, grounded in real-world practice, and tailored to the needs of each organization.

Our services include both certified and widely recognized training and professional development opportunities, such as the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) and Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW), and customized offerings for specific groups and purposes.

Professional development opportunities for faculty include workshops to build skills in teaching, assessment, lesson planning, and course design; inclusive classrooms, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and intercultural competence.

Training for all staff and leaders includes skill-building sessions for teams (e.g., mentorship, communication, leadership) and just-in-time training for new initiatives, technologies, or policies. We are also happy to develop customized modules, toolkits, and resources.

What does this look like in practice?

Training and professional development options vary widely. This can include sessions that take an hour to workshops and courses that are offered in multiple sessions over several days or weeks. Some offerings, such as the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW), consist of a required minimum number of hours for participants to earn a certificate, but others can be tailored to the time and desired outcomes of your organization. Sessions may be offered online, in person, or any combination of these.

Here are a few examples of training and development opportunities we can provide:

  • Facilitating Instructional Skills Workshops (ISWs) and Facilitator Development Workshops (FDWs) to support new and emerging educators and facilitators in developing strong practices.
  • Delivering Universal Design for Learning training for faculty across trades, health, and academic programs.
  • Leading workshops on inclusive teaching, active learning, and educational technology to support flexible, hyflex, and online learning environments.
  • Designing a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) training series for faculty and administrators, including assessment guides, learner resources, and interactive activities.
  • Providing coaching and training for staff teams adopting new processes or systems, such as flexible access models or competency-based approaches.
  • Creating custom quick-reference guides, tutorials, and mini-modules to support ongoing professional development.

We are ready to support college and university faculty; educators and instructors across K–12 and adult learning contexts; academic and support staff teams, department chairs; program leads, and new leaders; and community and non-profit learning organizations.
